LakeVille’s New Athletic Director

By Sean D.

As most of us now know, Mr. Dockins has been the Dean of Students at LakeVille Memorial High School for four years. As of February 11, 2020, he has taken on the role of Athletic Director for LakeVille. He took this position because he has worked as an Athletic Director for three other school districts, to increase the excellence of our teams, and to continue building relationships with the community.

Mr. Dockins believes LakeVille athletics has a bright future ahead of us. He plans to build a K-12 program in sports so that by time student athletes reach high school, they will be in their best possible position for success in sports.

Mr. Dockins is currently finishing winter sports, and beginning to work on spring sports. This includes a range of tasks such as hiring coaches, and creating game schedules. He plans to stay the AD as long as he is needed and to stay involved with our athletics program, no matter what position he holds.

While he holds both positions as Dean of Students and Athletic Director, he says that time management is the hardest part of the tasks at hand. Although he may be overwhelmed with work, he enjoys the relationships he has been able to build with staff and students. He says LakeVille has been his favorite school to work at, due to what he has been able to accomplish and becoming part of the LakeVille Falcon family.

Staff Highlight: Mr. Sliktas

By Jacob S.

Mr. Sliktas has been working in the skilled trades for 40 years and has been a wood shop teacher for 14 years. When he started teaching wood shop at LakeVille, many of the machines were broken and the shop was unorganized. This made it a challenge. Mr. Sliktas made it his goal is to leave the shop in a better condition for the next teacher that comes and takes over after he leaves. He says he is working to accomplish this goal by working late on week days and weekend to reorganize and rebuild the shop, and he has also supplied a lot of his own equipment and supplies for the shop to use. He will continue to invest and maximize the budget for the shop to make the industrial arts program the best it can be.
