Dates and Times
Classroom Bees will be held November 18-20, 2025. Each teacher picks the day/time that works best for their students.
Grade Level Bees will be held December 16-18, 2025. Check Back in November for specific dates & times for each grade.
The Word List is the same for Classroom/Grade Level Bees. However, the Classroom Bees will use all of the words on the list, in order. But, the Grade Level Bees will only use 1/2 of the words from each grade level and the order of the words will be scrambled. This increases the level of competition.
This is an optional time to prep for your bee. Students meet over lunchtime with Mrs. G and earn how to use the Spelling Bee Questions to help you compete. Advanced spellers will start to learn word roots by language of origin. Spelling Club is generally on Wednesdays, but 5th graders, should check with their teacher for exact days.
A FREE App to help you study
The National Spelling Bee created the Word Club App to help spellers prepare. It is a great way to study by yourself or with a parent or friend. Word Club will update over Labor Day 2025 - so make sure you have the most up to date version.
For this Bee, students will study a subset of the official Regional Bee Words from Scripps. This list is called The Words of The Champions. It has 4000 words in 3 sections: Bee1 (1000 words) Bee2 (2000) words and Bee3 (1000 words) Each year 10% of the words change. For the LMS Championship Bee we will likely use Bee1 A-M words and Bee2 A-? (still in progress) words. Using parts of the WOTC will help prepare our eventual LMS Champion for success at the Regional Level. Spellers who have mastered the School List may start to study these words - however, the database will not be updated until Thanksgiving. But there will be a LOT of overlap - so go ahead and start to study the words if you wish.
