Classroom Bees & Grade Level Bees
Classroom Bees & Grade Level Bees
Classroom Bees will be held November 16-18, 2026. Each teacher picks the day/time just before Thanksgiving Brea that works best for their students.
Grade Level Bees will be held December 15-16, 2026. Check back in November for specific dates & times for each bee.
The Word List is the same for Classroom/Grade Level Bees. However, the Classroom Bees will use all of the words on the list and in order. The Grade Level Bees will only use 1/2 of the words from each grade level and the order of the words will be scrambled. This increases the level of competition. Off-List Words will be used if necessary to finish up a bee.
Spelling Club
Spelling Club
This is an optional time to prep for your bee. Students meet over lunchtime with Mrs. G and learn how to compete in a bee by discovering the questions a speller can ask and how the answers are useful. Advanced spellers will start to learn word roots by language of origin. Spelling Club is generally on Wednesdays, but 5th graders, should check with their teacher for exact days.
5th Grade: Mrs. Bridges Room (at the very end of the hall)
6th Grade: Mrs. Barone's Room (second door on the left from the lunchroom)
7th/8th Grade: Pod 1 outside of the Library.
Use WORDCLUB - a free app to help you study
The National Spelling Bee created the Word Club App to help spellers prepare for their bees at school and at the Regional level. Word Club a great way to study by yourself or with a parent or friend. Word Club will update each August - so make sure you have the most up to date version at the begining of each school year. The 450 school words are aways new each year. The 4000 Regional Bee Words (The Words of the Champions) will change by about 10% each year.

The top 3 spellers from each Grade Level Bee will compete to to qualify for the Regional Bee. For this Bee, students will study a subset of the official Regional Bee Words from Scripps. This full list is called The Words of The Champions 2026. It has 4000 words in 3 sections: One Bee 🐝 (1000 words), Two Bee 🐝🐝 (2000) words and Three Bee 🐝🐝🐝 (1000 words) Each year 10% of the words change. Our subset will have 600-700 words each year. And there will be some overlap from year to year.
