The Information below this section is for Lakeview Middle School students as they progress through their Classroom Bees & Grade Level Bees each Autumn.

LMS Grade Level Bee Information

Classroom Bees & Grade Level Bees
Classroom Bees will be held November ----- 2026. Each teacher picks the day/time just before Thanksgiving Brea that works best for their students.
Grade Level Bees will be held December ----2026. Check back in October for specific dates & times for each bee.
The Word List is the same for Classroom/Grade Level Bees. However, the Classroom Bees will use all of the words on the list and in order. The Grade Level Bees will only use 1/2 of the words from each grade level and the order of the words will be scrambled. This increases the level of competition.
Spelling Club
Spelling Club
This is an optional time to prep for your bee. Students meet over lunchtime with Mrs. G and earn how to use the Spelling Bee Questions to help you compete. Advanced spellers will start to learn word roots by language of origin. Spelling Club is generally on Wednesdays, but 5th graders, should check with their teacher for exact days.

Word Club
The National Spelling Bee created the Word Club App to help spellers prepare. It is a great way to study by yourself or with a parent or friend. Word Club will update over Labor Day 2025 - so make sure you have the most up to date version.

The top 3 spellers from each Grade Level Bee will compete to to qualify for the Regional Bee. For this Bee, students will study a subset of the official Regional Bee Words from Scripps. This full list is called The Words of The Champions 2026. It has 4000 words in 3 sections: One Bee 🐝 (1000 words), Two Bee 🐝🐝 (2000) words and Three Bee 🐝🐝🐝 (1000 words) Each year 10% of the words change. Our subset will have 600-700 words each year. And there will be some overlap from year to year.
