8th Grade

Mr. Chronister

There’s no place like home! After a short sabbatical at the high school, I am excited to be back at Lakeview Middle School. I’ve now had the privilege of teaching at Cortland Elementary, Lakeview Middle School and Lakeview High School during my 15 years in the district. Working at multiple levels has given me the opportunity to appreciate the very different roles our faculty members play in the lives of kids from K-12. I’m blessed to teach a grade level and topic that I love. Early American history is more of a hobby than a job for me. Thankfully, my wife has accepted that museums, battlefields and historic homes are part of our vacations. I try very hard to make the battles, events and stories personal. It is important for kids to understand that historical figures had personal strengths and flaws (like all of us) and need to be considered within the context of the time and place they lived.

When I’m not at work, I’m home with my wife, Stephany, our son, Prescott (named after Colonel William Prescott, hero of the Revolutionary War’s Battle of Bunker Hill), and our two dachshunds, I’m currently coaching softball but I’ve also worked in the girls basketball and cross country programs at Lakeview. My hobbies include traveling, history, golf, following various sports teams, watching my beloved DVR and collecting toys from my childhood (anyone born in the 80s knows we had it the best with He Man, Transformers, Star Wars, Voltron, Nintendo and I could go on for days).

Mr. Craigo

I have been teaching in the Lakeview School District since 2006. Prior to teaching here, I taught Biology at Brookfield High School for 11 years. I spent my first 5 years teaching Biology here at Lakeview, but for the last 9, I have been teaching 8th grade Science.

I graduated from Hiram College in 1990 with a degree in Biology and I received my Master’s Degree in secondary education from YSU in 2003. I live in Howland with my wife, Tina, who teaches 6th grade science in Howland. Science plays an important role in all our lives and in my family’s life too. We have two daughters, Taylor, 23, who will be in her second year of pharmacy school at NEOMED, and Jenna, 19, who plans to pursue a career in medicine.

It is my hope that I can help my students to become lifelong learners and to appreciate the value of education.

Mrs. Davis

I was born and raised in Alliance, Ohio and graduated from Marlington High School. I remained in Alliance throughout my college years, attending Mount Union College (now University of Mount Union), where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Adolescent Education. I moved to the area after getting hired at Lakeview in 2011, and currently reside in Poland with my husband, Lee. In the 2017-2018 school year, I began working on my Master’s Degree in Special Education, and I am currently working towards completing the degree.

I began my career teaching 11th grade Language Arts, but found my passion teaching 8th grade Language Arts. I enjoy experiencing the large academic and personal gains that students make throughout their 8th grade year. Over the past five years, I have worked closely with the high school Language Arts teachers to create an engaging yet rigorous curriculum that prepares students for high school.

I am extremely excited to work in our brand new building, as it will provide new and exciting learning opportunities for our students. Please contact me at any time with questions. I look forward to working with you.

Mr. Facciolo

After growing up in the Lakeview committee I was fortunate enough to come back. I began my career in 2015 teaching high school mathematics classes beginning with Geometry and Pre-Algebra then taking over Algebra 1 for 8th graders and sections of the CCP Statistics course.

I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Miami University in Oxford Ohio and continued my education receiving a masters, also in mathematics education, from Youngstown State University two years later in 2017. Personally I enjoy politics, running, and Star Trek. Currently I am a coach for the high school boys soccer team and an advisor for ski club.

Mrs. Graeser

I have been teaching Gateway since August of 1990- yes I am teaching the second generation for at least two families. I graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, and got an Elementary Education Degree from Grove City College. I have a Master's Degree in Reading from Westminster College and became certified to teach Gifted through Ashland University. Although the curriculum and the kids have changed over the years, it continues to be my desire to challenge and enrich the lives of these identified gifted or high achieving students.

I have been married to Joe since 1975. We have been blessed with two adult children who have married and given us six grandchildren. We love piano recitals, Sunday afternoon soccer marathons, tee ball, youth theater, and taking them to Disney World. We have taught Sunday School to two and three-year-olds for more than 25 years (so we are on the second generation there too.) We love the small group that meets at our house each month and the women's book club that meets weekly during the summer.

I think of Gateway as a deep pool. Some students have been thrown in and will swim immediately, some will struggle, some will refuse to kick their feet and need to be pulled up from the bottom. In any case, I have no intention of letting anyone drown.

Mrs. Hartley

Bonjour! I have had the pleasure of teaching French at Lakeview since 1996. Over the years, I have worked in Mahoning and Trumbull counties teaching English and French. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and my master’s degree from Walsh.

I see education as my true calling in life, though my fascination with languages began well before my career. I started traveling in kindergarten, living on three different continents by the time I was 7. My parents taught overseas for the Department of Defense, and they instilled in me a love of travel and an appreciation for world languages and cultures.

Though I moved extensively as a child, I have spent my adult life here in Ohio. I have been married for over 35 years to an incredibly supportive husband. We have one grown son, who currently lives in North Carolina. He shares our love of travel, and we often meet up for family vacations. My journeys have led repeatedly to Canada, France, and Louisiana since I have a keen interest in French history and culture.

It is truly a privilege to work with the students of Lakeview Local Schools. While doing so, I hope to broaden their horizons and instill in them the same appreciation for languages and cultures that my family inspired in me. I also look upon parents as educational allies, and working together, I am sure that we can make learning a new language a positive and enriching experience. My goal is for every one of my students to succeed, so please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Ms. Henderson

I was born in Austintown, Ohio, and I graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 2018. Upon graduation, I attended Youngstown State University, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education (grades four through nine) and specialized in mathematics and English/Language Arts.

Throughout my time at YSU, I had the opportunity to teach at Columbiana Middle School and Salem Junior High School, where I taught 6th- and 7th-grade math, 8th-grade pre-algebra, general ELA, Honors ELA, and an ELA Enrichment course. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, swimming, and anything outdoors, playing clarinet for local community bands, and reading just about anything (but Harry Potter is still my go-to).

I am beyond excited to officially begin my teaching career at Lakeview Middle School. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. Go Bulldogs!

Ms. Stein

This is my second year teaching at Lakeview! I graduated from Champion High School, and hopped a short ways away to attend Hiram College in Hiram, OH. I graduated from Hiram in the fall of 2018 with my degree in Integrated Language Arts Education. Lucky for all of my students, I love Language Arts, Reading, and Writing. I am constantly searching for a new piece of Literature to read and appreciate. My family consists of two fluffy cats, so I have plenty of room to join the Lakeview family! I look forward to teaching and learning from your students. We’re going to have a great year!
