Competition on March 1st submit those build forms and keep studying :)
Science Olympiad is a team-based STEM competition with 23 different events. Events can be knowledge-based (such as a test), hands-on (a lab/experiment), or engineering-based (a build completed before the competition). Additionally, each event pertains to one of five different categories of science: Life, Personal, and Social Science, Earth & Space Science, Physical Science & Chemistry, Technology & Engineering, Inquiry & Nature of Science. Find out more in the "2023-2024 season" section! Here is a slideshow with more in-depth information:
How does Science Olympiad actually work?
Each team consists of at most 15 members. You participate in each of your events with a partner (Codebusters and Experimental Design are exceptions as you have 2 partners), so don't worry - it's a very collaborative competition (You can read more about teams and member expectations under Club Logistics)!
How/when do I compete?
Regionals, which is the BIG competition, is in March. However, we will compete in multiple invitationals throughout the year, so you will have opportunities to get familiar with the competition and take real practice tests for your events.
Why Science Olympiad?
Everyone can find something they like
Great opportunity to further knowledge in specific sciences you like
Lakeside’s past success -- we used to consistently go to state, and we've even made nationals!
A fun, collaborative experience
Invitationals this year!
