The Village of Lakemoor is located in northern Lake and McHenry Counties approximately 51 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, 15 miles from the Illinois/Wisconsin border, and 42 miles northwest of O’Hare Airport. Illinois Route 120 provides east-west highway access to the Village and nearby U.S. Route 12/Illinois Route 59 provides north-south highway access.

The Village is primarily residential with a growing commercial base. The current estimated population is 6,313 as of the 2012-2016 American Community Survey (“ACS”) 5-year population estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Village has a $ 5 million operating budget and a total of 30 (28-full time + 2-part-time) employees. Lakemoor is a nonhome rule community that operates under the Council/Administrator form of municipal government.
