Employability Skills

The State-Certified Employability Skills Program recognizes a student’s mastery of employability skills valued by employers in a variety of worksite settings while helping students explore career interests.

The program requires:

• Reinforcing professional workplace skills in personal work habits and attitudes

• A minimum of 90 work hours accumulated over the course of a semester

• Paid wages

• Enrollment in a course aligned with workplace functions

• Completion of assignments relating to career development assigned by the supervising teacher

Examples of how to implement locally:

• Through placement at a community employer

• Through paid work in a family business
