For LGBTQIA+ youth in particular, school can be a tricky place to explore who they are and how they identify, especially if they face harassment, discrimination, or a lack of resources. This list of resources has been compiled for both faculty and student use. It's goal is to provide age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate resources that meet all of our faculty and students where they are when addressing LGBTQIA+ visibility and inclusion.
Use Destiny Discover to browse books available in our library by clicking on the "LGBTQIA+" icon under the "Topics" menu.

Use Sora, and browse by clicking into the "Search for a Book" field at the top of the app. Click "Filters". Under "Subjects", click one of the following:

Novelist K-8: Use this database to browse for even more fiction titles. Click on "Browse by" in the top left menu. Click on "Appeal". Under "Make Your Own Appeal Mix", click on "Select a Category", choose "Character" and in the right field, click on "LGBTQIA". You can mix and match other appeal categories as well, but remember the more categories you choose, the more your results will be narrowed down...meaning fewer books listed to choose from. SOME of these books may be in our library or in our Sora libraries. You would have to go to Destiny and/or Sora and search for them by title there.
