About Winterguard:

Winterguard is a competitive performing arts activity that blends elements of dance, theater, and color guard. Performed indoors, typically in gymnasiums, Winterguard teams use flags, rifles, sabers, and other props to create visually stunning routines set to music. The performances are often thematic, telling a story or conveying a mood through intricate choreography, expressive movement, and carefully coordinated equipment work. Winterguard competitions are held during the winter months, with teams judged on both technical skill and artistic expression. It's a unique and captivating fusion of athleticism and artistry, offering participants a chance to showcase their creativity and teamwork.

About the Director:

Mrs. Hanna has been the Winterguard director since the very first year in 2022. She is also the Color Director with the award-winning LPS Marching Band. In addition to her role in Color Guard and Winterguard, Mrs. Hanna teaches 8th grade ELA and 7th grade Creative Writing at LPS. She has been married to her husband (the wrestling coach at LPS) for 15 years, and they have 2 sons who also attend LPS.
