Curriculum Information

Our grade 2 Program of Inquiry for 2019/20 will give a quick overview of the learning ahead. Let me know if you have a related area of expertise/community connections that would help our learning along! At the start of each unit of inquiry, a newsletter will be sent home (and posted on this page) with information about the unit itself as well as all the ways we're making connections to it through science, social studies, math, language arts, music, art, technology and PE.

Our #3 unit of inquiry about technology (past, present and future) is one that will put a lot of things in context for our grade twos. We'll make use of timelines to understand how and when technology was significant in particular ways.

Our #2 unit of inquiry about matter: how the world works is one that the kids will love! We'll certainly be getting our hands dirty in this one...just wait and see what I mean! See related two page newsletter below.

Here is the newsletter for our #1 unit of inquiry Who We Are (Healthy Choices), it's a great one to start the year with as they feel so knowledgeable already—they are already so keen to build on/more deeply understand what they already know. Please let me know if you have any related expertise or helpful contacts that would help us in this unit! Stay tuned for a related field trip this fall as well--one where we will apply much of what we've learned later on in the fall.
