Lake County Schools sponsors a regional Lake County History Day (LCHD) contest that is affiliated with both the state of Florida History Day contest (FHD) and the National History Day contest (NHD). This contest provides middle and high school students with a special opportunity to apply and demonstrate their own historical thinking and research skills in a project.
Students choose their own topic that aligns to the annual NHD theme and develop and present a final project in one of five categories: documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website.
Participating schools host their own History Day contest; the top entries from each school advance to the Lake County regional contest. Regional winners get invited to compete at the Florida History Day contest, and finally, winners at the state-level contest get invited to compete at the National History Day with the best entries from around the world.
To all our district staff, community members, parents, teachers, and especially students do to make History Day a success!
