Hi! I am Mrs. Coffman! I am so excited to be your child's teacher and to begin a new year together. I began my teaching career in 1992 as an Elementary PE teacher. In 1996, I joined the La Habra City School District as a 1st grade teacher at Ladera Palma. With the district reconfiguration in 2018, I had the opportunity to move to Las Positas and teach 2nd grade. We are an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Candidate School. I absolutely love my new team, as well as this new approach to teaching.

On a personal note, I am married and have an 18 year old daughter. During my free time, I enjoy anything Disney, reading, and camping, especially at the beach. My family likes attending Angels baseball or LA Kings hockey games. I also spend time with my daughter at musicals and with my husband going to concerts.

Teaching at Las Positas has truly been an exciting adventure. There are so many components to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Students learn through interactive activities in cycles of inquiry. While each unit of inquiry provides opportunities for students to learn about the world, the Learner Profile Attributes enable them to focus and reflect on themselves as well as their peers. Las Positas is a true family and learning community. I can't wait to share this journey with you!

¡Hola! ¡Soy la señora Coffman! Estoy muy emocionado de ser el maestro de su hijo y comenzar un nuevo año juntos. Comencé mi carrera docente en 1992 como profesor de educación física primaria. En 1996, me uní al Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de La Habra como profesor de 1er grado en Ladera Palma. Con la reconfiguración del distrito en 2018, tuve la oportunidad de mudarme a Las Positas y enseñar 2o grado. Somos una Escuela de Candidatos al Programa de Bachillerato Internacional. Me encanta mi nuevo equipo, así como este nuevo enfoque de la enseñanza.

A título personal, estoy casado y tengo una hija de 18 años. Durante mi tiempo libre, disfruto de cualquier cosa Disney, leer y acampar, especialmente en la playa. A mi familia le gusta asistir a los juegos de béisbol de los Angelinos o de los LA Kings. También paso tiempo con mi hija en musicales y con mi marido yendo a conciertos.

Enseñar en Las Positas ha sido realmente una aventura emocionante. Hay tantos componentes para el Programa de Años Primarios del Bachillerato Internacional. Los estudiantes aprenden a través de actividades interactivas en ciclos de investigación. Mientras que cada unidad de investigación ofrece oportunidades para que los estudiantes aprendan sobre el mundo, los Atributos de Perfil del Alumno les permiten enfocarse y reflexionar sobre sí mismos, así como en sus compañeros. Las Positas es una verdadera comunidad familiar y de aprendizaje. ¡No puedo esperar para compartir este viaje contigo!
