Dear P.R.I.D.E. Families,
My name is Kimberly SooHoo and I am very happy to be your child's teacher this year! This will be my 20th year teaching in Special Education. Over the course of my teaching career, I have taught every grade level from preschool up through 8th grade in a variety of special education settings including SDC, RSP, and Full Inclusion. I have my B.S. Degree in Communicative Disorders and my M.S. Degree in Special Education, both from Cal State Fullerton. I taught in Garden Grove Unified School District for 15 years and this will be my 7th year teaching in La Habra City School District. I taught math, history, and science for 6th-8th grade students in SDC at Imperial Middle School for two years and this year will be my fifth year teaching in the P.R.I.D.E. Program.
My husband is also a teacher! He teaches AP Calculus and Integrated Math 2 at Los Altos High School. He loves technology (he is my tech support at home) and watching YouTube videos about how to shop, cook, and eat healthy! When he's not teaching or on a technology device, he enjoys coaching sports teams for my kids, playing the ukulele, and doing magic tricks. I have three kids: 2 daughters and a son. My oldest daughter is 12 years old and she is in 7th grade. Her favorite subject in school is Language Arts. Outside of school she loves to read, dance, play Roblox with her friends, and practice music (she plays the saxophone in the Concert Band at her school). My son is 7 years old and is in 2nd grade this year. He likes to ride his bike, play soccer with his friends at recess, play Minecraft and Roblox, and practice wrestling, Kung Fu and Jiu Jitsu. My youngest daughter is one year old and she loves practicing her walking, singing songs, dancing, and trying to keep up with her older siblings.
As for me, my passions are teaching my students and taking care of my family! I also love to read, do arts and crafts projects, enjoy a cup of coffee with my mom, send silly text messages to my sister, make videos and picture slideshows with my husband to document our family memories, and give my kids lots of hugs!
I know many of you from years before, but I look forward to learning new things about you every day and I also can't wait to get to know all of our new students. It is going to be a great year! As part of our P.R.I.D.E. Family, please know that you are always LOVED and CARED about here in the P.R.I.D.E. Program!
Sincerely,
Mrs. SooHoo
