Welcome to Room 503! I am your 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Olynyk and I am looking forward to another great year at Las Positas Elementary (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Candidate School). I have been teaching in La Habra since 1996. I taught at Ladera Palma for 20 years as a first and second grade teacher. After the District Transformation, I moved to Las Positas and never looked back. I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2006. I have been a Master Teacher several times throughout my career and I was on the Task Force for the District Transformation during the 2017-2018 school year. It has been a wonderful experience working for LHCSD for so many years.

My family is an inspiration to me and supports me in my teaching career. I have a husband and two children. My husband is an engineer and enjoys playing piano in his spare time. My oldest son will be a Senior at Valencia High School this coming year. He enjoys swimming, hiking, working out, and playing basketball with his friends and brother. My younger son will be a Freshman at Valencia High School. He loves to play drums, work out, and play basketball with his brother. They both have aspirations to go to college after high school.

Although teaching is my true passion, I also love to draw, work out, and spend time with my family. We look forward to taking family vacations together and we are always searching for new places to experience. I also enjoy watching my husband play the keyboard at gigs with his band "Five South."

I am very excited to be a part of the Las Positas International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Candidate School, along with my colleagues and my Principal, Mrs. Hensley! It has been my pleasure to teach beyond the basic curricula and instill caring and curious students. I take pride in helping students live the Learner Profile and focus on shaping global citizens. I am thrilled that you will be on this journey with me this year! Let's get started!

¡Bienvenido a la habitación 503! Soy su profesora de segundo grado Sra. Olynyk y estoy deseando otro gran año en la Escuela Primaria de Años De Bachillerato Internacional. He estado enseñando en La Habra desde 1996. Enseñé en Ladera Palma durante 20 años como profesor de primer y segundo grado. Después de la Transformación del Distrito, me mudé a Las Positas y nunca miré hacia atrás. Fui nominado a Maestro del Año en 2006. He sido Maestro de Maestro varias a lo largo de mi carrera y estuve en el Grupo de Trabajo para la Transformación del Distrito durante el año escolar 2017-2018. Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa trabajar para LHCSD durante tantos años.

Mi familia es una inspiración para mí y me apoya en mi carrera docente. Tengo un marido y dos hijos. Mi marido es ingeniero y disfruta tocando el piano en su tiempo libre. Mi hijo mayor será Senior en Valencia High School el próximo año. Le gusta nadar, hacer senderismo, hacer ejercicio y jugar al baloncesto con sus amigos y hermanos. Mi hijo menor será estudiante de primer año en la Escuela Secundaria Valencia. Le encanta tocar la batería, hacer ejercicio y jugar al baloncesto con su hermano. Ambos tienen aspiraciones de ir a la universidad después de la escuela secundaria.

Aunque la enseñanza es mi verdadera pasión, también me encanta dibujar, hacer ejercicio y pasar tiempo con mi familia. Esperamos poder disfrutar de unas vacaciones familiares juntos y siempre estamos buscando nuevos lugares para experimentar. También disfruto viendo a mi marido tocar el teclado en conciertos con su banda "Cinco Sur".

Estoy muy emocionado de ser parte de la Escuela de Candidatos al Programa de Años Primarias de La Positas, junto con mis colegas y mi Directora, Sharon Hensley! Ha sido un placer para mí enseñar más allá de los planes de estudio básicos e inculcar estudiantes atentos y curiosos. Me enorgullece ayudar a los estudiantes a vivir el perfil del alumno y centrarme en dar forma a los ciudadanos globales. ¡Estoy encantado de que estés en este viaje conmigo este año! ¡Empecemos!
