I grew up in La Habra, and when I was six years old, I decided that I wanted to be a teacher. I had the most amazing first grade teacher at El Cerrito Elementary School, and I wanted to be just like her. I remember how kind and loving she was, and how memorable she made that year. Middle school is pretty different from elementary school, but Imperial Middle School is a really great place. I love it here and have been teaching sixth grade now for 25 years. I wouldn't want to be teaching anywhere else.

I love to go camping and breathe in the fresh air of the mountains. I also like visiting theme parks with my kids. I found out that I like drawing after attending the Animation Academy at Disney California Adventure. You can see my wall of art from their rough sketch classes in our classroom. I also enjoy taking things apart and trying to fix anything that breaks. This year I installed a new reverse osmosis water system and fixed a leaking pipe under the house by watching some YouTube videos. I like to dress up for all of those "national holidays" like "Talk Like a Pirate Day," "Pi Day," and "Super Hero Day." 

I have been married for 27 years and five kids, including two sets of twins. We have a lot of fun together, but things sure do get crazy at home. I have a bunch of stories of memorable events that have happened to us. The picture here is of our first trip to Yosemite National Park. One of my kids was super mad that there was no playground. She thought the word park meant a city-type park and not land set aside and protected for people to enjoy. We had a good laugh, but she still hasn't forgotten about that sad realization after driving in the car for nine hours.

I love teaching science and language arts. What I love most about science is asking questions about why things happen the way that they do. Using inquiry to start thinking about the world and then looking for a solution is so interesting. I also enjoy watching the sky. The clouds in the daytime and the stars at night captivate me. The thing I most enjoy about reading is traveling to new worlds and living with the characters for a while. I love fantasy series books so that the story takes a long time to come to an end. If you haven't read the Harry Potter books, give them a try. I love them, and I am a proud Hufflepuff. 

Sobre la Sra. Cosand

Crecí en La Habra y cuando tenía seis años decidí que quería ser maestra. Tuve la maestra de primer grado más increíble en la escuela primaria El Cerrito y quería ser como ella. Recuerdo lo amable y cariñosa que fue, y lo memorable que hizo ese año. La escuela secundaria es bastante diferente a la escuela primaria, pero la escuela secundaria Imperial es un gran lugar. Me encanta estar aquí y he estado enseñando sexto grado durante 25 años. No me gustaría estar enseñando en ningún otro lugar.

Me encanta ir de camping y respirar el aire puro de la montaña. También me gusta visitar los parques temáticos con mis hijos. He estado casado durante 27 años y tengo cinco hijos, incluidos dos pares de gemelos. Nos divertimos mucho juntos, pero las cosas se vuelven locas en casa. Me encanta enseñar ciencias y artes del lenguaje. Lo que más me gusta de la ciencia es hacer preguntas sobre por qué las cosas suceden de la forma en que suceden. Usar la indagación para comenzar a pensar en el mundo y luego buscar una solución es muy interesante. También disfruto mirando el cielo. Las nubes de día y las estrellas de noche me cautivan. Lo que más disfruto de la lectura es viajar a nuevos mundos y convivir un rato con los personajes. Me encantan los libros de series de fantasía, por lo que la historia tarda mucho en llegar a su fin. Si no has leído los libros de Harry Potter, pruébalos. Los amo, y soy un orgulloso Hufflepuff.
