LPA Phrases for the following situations
When a student receives support or intervention others do not: "At LPA we work hard to make sure all students get what they need. Those things look and feel different for all kinds of people."
When a student observes a peer having a big feeling moment: “It looks like your classmate is experiencing some big feelings. (Teacher's name), knows how to help that student. The teachers are here to keep everyone safe.”
If the child is worried about their friend or wants to help, you can respond: “When your classmate is upset you can help by giving them space and understanding. Big feelings happen to everyone.”
When a student shares that a peer/classmate was unkind: “It sounds like you might have felt (insert feeling work) when (peers name) did (situation). What problem-solving tools did you use?”
