Ledger Live Desktop: The Complete Guide to Managing Your Crypto

If you have a Ledger wallet, you must use Ledger Live desktop from now on. This software allows you to check your balances, send crypto, buy and exchange assets while keeping your private keys secured in the Ledger device. It is a great tool for all crypto owners.

Ledger Live Desktop is an entirely free app, available on desktops (Windows, macOS, Linux) and mobiles (iOS, Android), serving as the control center for your Ledger hardware wallet. You can think of it as a dashboard: while it shows you what you own and lets you take actions, it never has direct custody of your private keys. These are generated and stored on the Ledger device, which is the device that signs your transactions.

1. Make sure to download the Ledger application exclusively from the Ledger official site, rather than using any links found in your emails, messages, or advertisements, since unethical people may be using some fraudulent versions of Ledger Live in their scams.

2. You’ll need to use either a USB or Bluetooth connection in the next step to connect and unlock the device using your PIN.

3. You’ll have to create accounts for the currencies and tokens that you want Ledger Live to track; the software will fetch the current balance data automatically from the blockchain.

4. Once you have completed this step, you can start using Ledger Live. You will be able to send or receive funds, swap or stake coins; however, you need to accept each action physically on the device.
