General
When will students register for classes?
Students entering high school will register at their Middle School during the last week of January.
Students currently in grades 9, 10, and 11 will register at Logan High School on JANUARY 29.
Students will have an opportunity to attend a curriculum fair prior to registration.
How many credits do students need to register for?
All students should register for at least 6.5 to 7 credits for the upcoming school year.
**If you anticipate enrolling in summer school, you should STILL enroll in that course for next school year-- it is easier to drop from your schedule next year than add it if something should change with your plans.
When do students register for summer school?
Summer school is separate for original and credit recovery and will happen at a later date, typically after February. Watch for emailed information from the school for more information on when registration for summer school will happen.
What technology will students receive at the high school level?
Beginning Sept 2024, students are issued an Apple iPad, cover, charger brick and cord; students are expected to sign and follow our acceptable use policy. More information on using this district device can be found here.
What is a transcripted credit course? What is a dual credit course?
Courses labeled as Dual or Transcripted Credit MAY provide this opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. These courses are subject to change per course from one school year to the next.
A course that offers a transcripted credit means that any student in that course can earn credits through Western Technical College if they earn a certain grade. This is at no cost to the student.
A course that offers dual credit can be taken by any student; the college credit is an optional opportunity. Once enrolled, a student can choose to submit an application and if they meet the qualifications set by the participating university, they will pay for the credits (typically at a discounted rate) they may earn based on their grade/ passing the course.
If I have a question about registration, who can I contact?

Art
I’ve already taken Art 1. Do I need to take Foundations of 2D Art and/or Foundations of 3D Art before advancing to upper-level courses?
No. If you’ve already completed Art 1, it counts as both Foundations of 2D Art and Foundations of 3D Art. You do not need to take these courses before moving on to the next level, level I, classes.
Why have the advanced course levels changed, and which advanced course number should I sign up for?
The numbering of advanced courses has shifted. Previously, courses were listed as Drawing II, Drawing III, Painting II, Painting III, etc. Now, they are labeled Drawing I, Drawing II, Painting I, Painting II, and so on.
If you’ve already taken Drawing II and want to continue, you should register for Drawing II again.
If you’ve completed Painting II and wish to take the next course, sign up for Painting II again.
Although it might look like you’re repeating a course, your transcript will indicate that you’ve completed both levels, and the course curriculum will reflect your progression. If you have any questions during this transition, please contact Ms. Kruser.
Can I take AP Art if I’ve only taken one or two art classes?
It’s highly recommended that students take as many art classes as possible before enrolling in AP Art. This is a rigorous course where students are expected to have strong foundational skills and a broad understanding of art methods. In AP Art, you’ll develop a Sustained Investigation (a guiding question) that shapes the focus of all your artwork.
Can I take Art Seminar more than once, and how does it work?
Yes, you can take Art Seminar multiple times, focusing on a different medium each time. For example:
If you’ve completed Painting I and Painting II, you could enroll in Art Seminar with a painting focus.
If you’ve taken Sculpture I and Sculpture II, you could enroll in Art Seminar with a sculpture focus.
To qualify, you must complete the entire pathway, including the foundations course (or Art 1) and Levels I and II, before enrolling in Art Seminar. This course is primarily independent study, where you select materials and topics related to your chosen medium.
Can I take Art Seminar with a focus on Fiber Arts or Digital Art?
Yes, as long as you’ve completed the relevant courses in Fiber Arts or Digital Art, you’re eligible to enroll in Art Seminar with a focus on those areas.
I don’t see Sculpture listed as an option on the registration sheet, but I’m interested. What should I do?
Sculpture I and II alternate years with Ceramics I and II. If you’re interested in 3D art, consider signing up for either Sculpture or Ceramics, depending on the year. Just make sure you’ve completed Foundations of 3D Art first!
