Meet Your Teachers

"Hi, everyone! My name is Marli Zimmerman and I will be teaching you or your students this year in 6th and/or 7th grade choir.

As a music educator, I want to encourage music to be an important part of students' lives! I love to make learning music a fun and engaging experience. Knowing that singing in general can be a very intimidating activity, I want to make students feel more confident in the skills they already have and be open to growing more as musicians, individuals, and students."

Fun facts about Ms. Zimmerman:

  • -This is my 4th year of teaching, all of which has been at Longfellow/LDI.
  • -I am currently working on my graduate degree through an online degree offered through University of Florida

-I have two cats named Barney and Eddie and am a vivid animal lover

-I love coffee!

-I know American Sign Language from working at a camp with kids who were Deaf and Hard of Hearing!

-In the summer, I try to travel as much as possible! This last summer, I went to New York City, Atlanta, Georgia, Holland, Belgium, and Greece!

I am so excited to meet you and your students! Get ready for an amazing 2019-2020 School year!

Hello! I'm Kim Shively and I teach music at both Longfellow/LDI Middle School and Central High School. At Longfellow, I teach two sections of 6th Grade General Music and the 8th Grade Choir. Half way through the day, I travel to Central HS where I teach the Freshmen Treble Choir, The Bass Clef Choir, Central Connection show choir, and voice lessons. I have taught in La Crosse for the past 25 years.

My husband, Josh, teaches at Coulee Montessori. We have two daughters - Ella, a junior at Northland College and Ava, a senior at Central HS. I also sing in the cover band Sellout.
