Artistic approach
When it came time for me to reevaluate my creative process, I was forced to realize that it is rooted within a very short period of time in my life, four or five years at most. Following my father, founding director of the Graduate School of Fisheries in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, I accompanied him in his fly fishing trips, where I learned not only the basics of this activity, but also the knowledge and respect of nature. Then, when our box of artificial flies was emptied out, we drew upon a lot of textile material, a legacy of my mother, to create new lures. My father, a constant source of expertise which he shared so generously, also helped to make me an empowered woman, if not a feminist, when he introduced me to this activity which is practiced mostly by men.

Since then, every time I see or realize a project that constitute the fabric of my creative process, I only add a layer to this core. Just as the manipulation of matter in all its forms: food, stone, earth, wood, allowed our prehistoric ancestors to develop techniques, a spoken language, a thought, so did I arrived at the dawn of the year 2000 well in possession of my very own personal creative language. I only lacked a cause within the meaning of the debate. I had it in my sight: the disappearance of some fish species are a great concern to me especially the salmonids. I use the survival of Atlantic salmon as a metaphor: « When the fish dies, man is threatened. »
