Dr. Jim DeVivo is excited to be a part of the Lacey Township High School community as a teacher of theatre, English, and leadership in addition to working as Drama Club adviser. He earned Doctorate and Masters degrees in Educational Theatre from NYU and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre & English from Niagara University. Dr. DeVivo has over 20 years experience as an actor, director, teaching artist, and administrator in professional theaters in New York and New Jersey. He participates in the development of new scripts with the New Plays for Young Audiences Series in New York City and is an expert in the fields of theatre for young audiences (TYA) of young playwrights program. Dr. DeVivo has been the producer of the New Jersey Young Playwrights Contest & Festival and maintains The Young Playwrights Map - a project that grew from his doctoral research. Dr. DeVivo is a recipient of the Lowell S. & Nancy Swortzell Scholarship, a finalist in the Pi Delta Kappa Dissertation Proposal Grant, an inductee into the Liverpool Central Schools Fine Arts Hall of Fame, and received a NJ Governor's Award in Arts Education (2009) and the New Jersey Theatre Alliance Award of Excellence (2018) for his work with young theatre artists.
