Students of the La Center School District possess the knowledge and skills to be lifelong learners and successful productive citizens. As lifelong learners, they are assertive, hard working, self-directed, and investigative. They appreciate diversity, effectively use empathy, and show compassion to others. Striving for greatness and demonstrating resilience are characteristics that drive them toward success in all areas of life, and they have a positive impact on those around them. They apply a growth mindset and implement critical thinking skills, which ensures they are college- and career-ready and contributing members of their home, workplace, and community.
The mission of the La Center School District school counseling program is to provide equitable access to a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that helps all students achieve their full potential and become lifelong learners in a rapidly changing and diverse society. The school counseling program will support all students to strengthen their self-efficacy and resilience. The school counseling program will partner with students, staff, families, and other community members to create a safe and welcoming environment where students can learn to become successful and productive members of society. The school counseling program will advocate for equity and student success, will encourage self-advocacy, and will promote the development of citizenship that embraces empathy and compassion.
