Saista was born and raised in Nayagarh, Odisha. She completed her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Nayagarh autonomous college, Nayagarh, and her M.Sc. from Utkal University. During her Master's, she worked as an intern at IIT, Bhubaneswar under Dr. Tabrez Khan. Then, she joined as a Junior Research Scholar under the supervision of Dr. Ponneri C. Ravikumar in July 2022 at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar. In 2025, she moved to IISER Tirupati with Prof P. C. Ravikumar to continue her research. Currently, she is focusing on transition metal-catalyzed chain-walking reactions and exploration of Scandium catalysis for C-H activation reactions.
