APWA SCHOLARSHIP
The Northeast Ohio Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA) is offering multiple $1,000 scholarships to students residing in the Northeast Ohio area enrolled in a Public Works field of study including Engineering, Administrative, Vocational/Trade, and Environmental Impact/Water Quality disciplines.

Announcing 2026 Scholarship Opportunities
from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio
The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is pleased to announce the availability of postsecondary scholarship opportunities for students in Appalachian Ohio from donor-established funds within FAO, many honoring the legacy of a friend or loved one.
Please note, all applications and materials are due on February 15, 2026.
The last five scholarships listed require their own application forms, but the due date is the same.
Our 2026 applications are available online through the Foundation Cloud Community Portal. New applicants will create a portal account where they can then search, complete, and submit their applications and materials. Students can create their new portal account through the Portal Login page. A Scholarship Applicant FAQ for creating an account and navigating their applications is available. Applicants who have used the Portal in the past can use their existing account and credentials.

Regional Opportunities
(32 counties of Appalachian Ohio)
The AK Steel Foundation Student Scholastic Award for Science, Technology, Math and Engineering was established by the AK Steel Foundation to provide a permanent source of scholarship support for students pursuing studies in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, with particular emphasis on metallurgy and a future commitment to work in Ohio. Scholarships are available to both traditional and non-traditional students.
The Ora E. Anderson Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Ora Eaton Anderson and his lifelong contributions toward the conservation of Appalachian Ohio’s natural environment. The scholarship provides support to students pursuing studies associated with environmental conservation and natural sciences.
The Ariana R. Ulloa Scholarship was established by family and friends to honor the memory and life’s work of Ariana R. Ulloa. The scholarships are available to international students and eligible noncitizens pursuing any field of study. Students pursuing a degree in international studies or international relations may also be considered. In addition to Appalachian Ohio’s 32 counties, this scholarship is also open to students from Delaware, Fairfield, and Franklin counties.
The Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship was established to honor the tremendous legacy of both men in encouraging continued academic endeavors after high school. Scholarships are available to students with demonstrated financial need pursuing postsecondary studies.
The FAO Environmental Stewardship Pillar Scholarship was established to support individuals seeking degrees or continuing education in ecology, forestry, wildlife ecology or related natural resource fields. These scholarships have been made possible by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District and the generosity of many donors, including Nicolozakes Trucking & Construction Inc., Ohio CAT, American Electric Power (AEP), the AEP Foundation and the AEP Ohio Foundation. In addition to Appalachian Ohio’s 32 counties, this scholarship is also open to students from Ashland, Knox, Licking, Richland, Summit, Stark and Wayne.
GEOGRAPHIC SPECIFIC OPPORTUNITIES
**NEW** The Area Agency on Aging Region 9 Scholarship was established to support high school seniors, non-traditional students returning to school, and students currently enrolled in a postsecondary program who are pursuing a RN (registered nurse) or LSW (licensed social worker) degree. Applicants must be living and attending a postsecondary program in the Region 9 service area which includes Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum and Tuscarawas counties.
The Lee Beckett Legacy Scholarship provides scholarship opportunities for graduating Nelsonville-York high school seniors (one female and one male student) pursuing postsecondary studies, either full or part-time, and is committed to volunteer service.
The Cambridge High School Class of 1957 Scholarship offers awards to graduating CHS Seniors who have demonstrated academic "improvement" throughout their high school years. It looks for students who did not do well in their first years of high school, but who became better students as time went on.
The Charles E. Chippi Scholarship provides scholarship opportunities for graduating Guernsey County high school seniors pursuing postsecondary studies in education.
The Charles A. and Joan Corder Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship opportunities for students from Meigs County, Ohio, who are already in their junior or senior year of their postsecondary education program at accredited schools providing training and certification in various trades and fields of vocational interest, associate degree programs, or four-year institutions of higher learning.
The Jenny Cornelius-Woltz Memorial Scholarship supports scholarships to graduating seniors from John Glenn High School in Guernsey County, who will be attending an accredited postsecondary institution offering nursing programs, or alternatively, training within the fields of medicine.
The Jeff Cox and Jane Schumacher Cox Scholarship was established due to the donors’ fond memories of their educations and extracurricular activities at their respective schools. This scholarship fund will provide at least one scholarship for a Buckeye Trails graduate and one for Monroe Central graduate.
The Jennifer Garrison Public Service Scholarship encourages and supports postsecondary efforts of students with a passion for public service. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors from Monroe, Noble, and Washington counties.
The Leifheit-Michael Family Scholarship was established to support Meigs County residents pursuing a career in fine arts, music, education, medicine, or agriculture, who have completed their first year of postsecondary education.
The Michael C. Long Legacy Scholarship supports Buckeye Trail students from Quaker City, Ohio, who are attending college, with priority consideration given to those attending The Ohio State University to major in engineering.
The W. Donald and Marian Porter Huffman Family Scholarship supports students who have graduated from secondary schools in Ashtabula or Harrison Counties who have completed their first year of postsecondary education, with priority consideration given to students pursuing certificates and/or degrees in education, public service, or medical fields.
The Rose Elizabeth Bell MacConkey Scholarship Fund for Women Going into a Career in Business supports a female student graduating (or a past graduate) from Cambridge High School who is
taking a course of study related to a career in business, e.g., business management, human resources, accounting, or any business-related field.
The Mandy McGlumphy Social Work Scholarship supports graduating seniors from schools in Guernsey County. The students must be pursuing studies in the field of mental health, with priority to those pursuing social work or counseling.
The MPLX Scholarship was created to assist graduating seniors with educational expenses associated with earning a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in a field related to the gas industry or a STEM area of study. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors of Harrison Central High School, Caldwell High School, or Shenandoah High School.
The George and Mary Ellen Ontko Scholarship was created to provide educational scholarships to students who are enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or career/technical school. The scholarship is open to a current or past graduate of a high school in Guernsey County with priority to students pursuing postsecondary studies in education.
The Jim Raeder Helping Hand Scholarship is for a graduating senior of Logan High School in Hocking County ranking in the top third of the class, attending a public four-year college or university in the State of Ohio, and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, or business administration.
The Loran and Shirley Stutz Scholarship was established to support graduating seniors (including those attending public, private, vocational or parochial school, and homeschooled students) residing and attending school in East Guernsey Local School District who are pursuing a postsecondary education.
The James and Martha Thomas Scholarship was established for graduating seniors of Buckeye Trail High School pursuing bachelor's degree in education, with the goal of a career in teaching
The Davey L. and Sandra Jackson Turner Memorial Scholarship supports graduating students from Monroe County’s three Switzerland of Ohio local high schools: Monroe Central, River or Swiss Hills Career Center.
The Lester and Thelma Ellwood Educational Scholarship is a legacy scholarship to honor the importance of education by providing encouragement and support of access to educational opportunities for graduates of Guernsey County high schools in pursuit of a postsecondary undergraduate education.
The Dr. Joanelle Wargo Long Legacy Scholarship was established by Joanelle Wargo Long for educational scholarships to students that are current or past participants in the Noble County 4-H program and who are accepted into and attend accredited programs at four-year institutions of higher learning.
The Jeanne Warne Frontz Memorial Scholarship was established to provide scholarship opportunities for women who are current or past Cambridge High School attendees, especially those that are pursuing postsecondary education as nontraditional students.
The Ralph L. and Linda S. Warne Engineering Scholarship was established to provide scholarship opportunities for Guernsey County residents pursuing studies in engineering at an accredited engineering college or university in Ohio.
The Weber Family Scholarship was established for residents of Monroe County graduating from the Switzerland of the Ohio School District (including Monroe Central and River High Schools, and Swiss Hills Career Center) and pursuing a course of study in education, including special needs education, or the sciences, including agriculture.
SCHOLARSHIPS WITH THEIR OWN APPLICATION FORM:
The G.D. Agnew Foundation Scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Guernsey County, Ohio, high schools (including students from those schools who attend the Mid-East Career Center) who demonstrate scholastic ability, financial need, and the potential for civic leadership.
The Bachtel Scholarship Awards Program was established by Dr. Harry Keig to honor the legacy of his coach, Forrest Bachtel. These awards support four nominated graduating Meigs High School seniors (two male and two female students) with scholarships for academic and/or athletic achievement. Contact the Meigs High School guidance office for more information.
The Cambridge High School Scholarship Program application includes 21 individual scholarships, each with their own eligibility criteria, available to graduating seniors of Cambridge High School.
The Myron Fishel Scholarship is a member fund of the Guernsey County Foundation Family of Funds and supports Guernsey County residents pursuing a postsecondary degree at an Ohio accredited institution of higher learning.
The Dr. Allen Smith Memorial Scholarship honors the late Dr. L. Allen Smith and his mother, the late Mary Ellen Smith. The award offers two scholarships to Jackson City High School graduating seniors – The Smith Scholastic Award for Achievement in Math, Science and Engineering and The Smith Community Service Award – who will be attending a 4-year college or university in Ohio.

The Friends of the CSM would like to recognize students who apply critical thinking skills to their respective competitive categories. A quality nomination excels at looking at both sides of an issue; takes a creative approach to argumentation; and offers arguments that are substantive, have depth and societal relevance.
Nominating Process
This form will ask you to identify yourself (to make sure it is an adult who is nominating the student) and write up to 100 words explaining how this student demonstrates excellence in critical thinking. Students must be nominated by an adult (judge or coach).

Graduating seniors who have been accepted and plan to attend Youngstown State University for the 26-27 academic year can now complete the new online scholarship application for the YSU Foundation Scholarship.
Students who are awarded scholarships thorough this application will be notified in April by letter regarding the scholarship they have been awarded the steps required to accept/received the awarded scholarship.

The Crystal Lake Foundation was created by The Mahoning Sportsman’s Association in 2013 to provide Grant monies for local charities and non-profit organizations, provide numerous yearly Scholarships for post-secondary education, and host multiple youth activities such as fishing derby’s, youth field days and archery leagues. In recent year’s we have refocused our course to provide more to the youth in our community and therefore will be providing more scholarships than in previous year’s. The Crystal Lake Foundation scholarship was created to provide opportunities for local youth to pursue post-secondary education.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Must be a US Citizen.
2. Must receive High School Diploma or GED.
3. Must supply school transcript from most recent completed year.
4. Must be enrolled at a Technical School, Trade School, or Eligible Four-Year College or University to receive scholarship funds in Fall of 2026.
5. Must live in one of these six counties: Mahoning, Columbiana, Trumbull, Lawrence, Mercer, Beaver
