The Real Scare at Halloween Horror Nights

It’s official! Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios has begun, being celebrated at every location worldwide! The events began in early September and continue through late October. The main theme parks are transformed with frightening set decorations and events that include themed haunted houses inspired by horror movies - sometimes cult classics like Halloween and Chucky -  or TV shows. The park provides scare zones, entertaining shows, with what is called “scare actors” who wear gruesome costumes and special effects makeup to bring horror to life. Sounds enticing doesn’t it? Well, on the contrary, many seem to think that the so-called excitement and fear of it all isn't really worth it–pronouncing Halloween Horror Nights overrated.

Many people have said Halloween Horror Nights is overrated for reasons such as long lines, big crowds, ticket prices, repetitive themes, and predictable jump scares. Does Halloween Horror Nights still sound enticing to you? If so, a lot of people argue that HHN has been overselling tickets since they couldn't go through every maze, show, or ride, without waiting a minimum of two hours or even five hours in lines unless they had the express passes which on top of the normal ticket prices are incredibly costly. All of this leads to an unpleasant experience, not to mention the fact that the overselling of tickets without being equipped with the space to hold all these people creates health hazards! People claim to have spent most of their money on parking as well as just standing in line, reducing the overall experience to “awesome” back and foot pain.

The cost of the tickets, which include admission, parking, and extras like Express Passes, can significantly affect those unable to afford them. While the people who are lucky enough to get an express pass might save an hour or two in line, many say that the express pass isn't even worth the money. Those who have attended Halloween Horror Nights multiple times may experience repeating themes and concepts over the years, leading to a sense of familiarity with the event. With jump scares, many can already predict when they will happen and may lack the emotional and storytelling elements that some horror fans prefer.

That being said, who really wants to go to Halloween Horror Nights anymore? If you still say yes, maybe you you’re one of the monsters at Halloween Horror Nights!
