I consider teaching an integral part of academic work, and it is something that has consistently kept me motivated and grounded. I have designed and taught courses in areas of my interest at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. I regularly teach compulsory courses on social stratification and inequality, and gender and public policy, and elective courses on industrial labour in India, caste in India, and women and work.
Some of the courses I have developed and taught:
Debates on Caste in India – Thematic Trajectories (Master's Elective, 2 Credits)
Industry and Worker in India – Past and Present (Master's Elective, 2 Credits)
Understanding Urbanity (Undergraduate Elective, 4 Credits)
I currently teach the following courses at IIT-H:
Labour and Development (Master's Elective, 3 Credits)
Social Inequality, Social Justice and Development (Master' Core, 3 Credits)
Gender and Public Policy (Master's Elective, 3 credits)
Advanced Themes in Economic Sociology (PhD Elective, 3 credits)
Understanding Urbanity - Introductory Perspectives (Undergraduate Elective, 1 Credit)
Sociology of Sports - An Introduction (Undergraduate Elective, 1 Credit)
What's on the Menu? An Introduction to the Sociology of Food and Eating (Undergraduate Elective, 1 Credit)
I have also taught courses in a collaborative experiment initiated by the BRICS network university, where three teachers virtually taught a course on inequality in the BRICS countries to a set of students located in these countries.
In the long run, I wish to be able to refine and continue to offer courses on the development of labour in India and its various historical and contemporary dimensions. I would also like to develop immersive courses on method with a focus on labour, gender and policy.
