Kimberly Carter-White, the mastermind behind Kymisty Designs, is a self-taught designer and teaching artist who boldly embarked on her creative journey. After receiving her first sewing machine over 30 years ago, Kimberly's passion for sewing and crocheting was ignited with just one sewing lesson. 

Denim, color, and textures inspire her designs and gently-used vintage clothing as she strives to breathe new life into garments and reduce Kymistry's carbon footprint.

As a teaching artist, Kimberly has fearlessly led workshops on Financial Literacy Through Fashion, Teen Entrepreneurship, and Career Connections for middle school students in the New York Department of Education for a decade. Her commitment to sustainable practices and educating others is unwavering.

Reflecting on her childhood, Kimberly shared, "When I was a little girl, I used to go thrift shopping with my grandmother. "I was always excited about thrifting until I realized we were buying my classmate's old clothing most of the time." I would ask her to embellish my finds so that no one would know that my clothes came from yard sales or second-hand stores."

Now, over 30 years later, Kimberly is an accomplished self-taught designer who fearlessly honed her craft by initially practicing sewing with old sheets from Goodwill before experimenting with different fabrics and textures. She creates her designs with unwavering determination and passion.
