Chromebook Help

Please use these resources to help you resolve issues you are having with your chromebook and to learn more about the features of a chromebook.

Ways to Solve Chromebook Issues

Try these actions first before contacting the KWCPS Technology Team:

  • Shut Down your chromebook and restart

  • Logout and log back in using your KWCPS email and password

  • Refresh the page using the circular arrow button next to the address window.

  • Your chromebook must be connected to wifi in order to log into it. You may use the hotspots outside of the schools to connect and log into your chromebook. Only close your chromebook before leaving wifi access - DO NOT turn it off or logout.

Attention KWHS students!

If your chromebook is not turning on, please follow these steps to restore it.

1) Plug Chromebook charger into chromebook

2) Hold the Refresh + Power buttons down for 4 seconds.

3) Attempt Powering on your Chromebook a few times and it should work!

Can't open Windows products on your chromebook?

An update to the Office editing app from the Chrome Web store has caused some HP chromebooks to open a blank window when trying to access a Windows product, such as Word. This quick fix will restore the ability to open these products.

No WiFi at Home?

Follow these steps to work on your assignments at home.

Make sure you have your own copy saved in your Google Drive.

Note for Google Classroom:

As long as you have opened the assignment once, it will be available offline in your drive.

Files can be saved directly on your chromebook.

You will need to upload them to your Google Drive when you have wifi again to make space on your chromebook.

Note for Google Classroom:

You do not HAVE to download assignments. Just access them on your drive in your Classroom folder, or under Recent.

Before going home, just close the chromebook.

When you leave school just close your chromebook, do not logoff or shut down. You can only log into your chromebook while on wifi.

Work Offline

Now at home you should be able to work on your downloaded assignments. If you are using a Google app you will see the working offline icon at the top of the page. Your document will automatically upload with recent changes when you connect to wifi again.

If you downloaded the assignment separately, you will have to upload it again once you reconnect to wifi.
