What: The 2026 Academic Decathlon
Where: George Morgan Sr. High School in Kalskag Alaska
When: Tuesday May 5 to Friday May 8. (4 days / 3 Nights - including travel time)
Who: All Kuspuk School District Students Grades 6 - 12. Plus special guest students from other school districts in Alaska

The decathlon will consist of several competitions and career exploration workshops.
There are team competitions and there are individual competitions. There will be 16 teams of approximately 7-10 on a team. A few of the individual competitions, you can prepare for in advance and bring to the decathlon with you. There are others you will have to complete on the spot using your skills and knowledge of the content involved. There are practice questions if you want to see the style of the questions on the test. The speech prompt is available to view and you must prepare in advance. The Essay prompt is also available and you can prepare a 3x5 notecard and bring in with you to the essay, however you must write the essay during the decathlon at the competition time. Below are the preparation materials for the individual competitions.
Math - (Multiple Choice) - Questions are based on KSD standards and typical standardized multiple choice questions. Sub Categories include - General Math, Pre Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Advanced Math
Science - (Multiple Choice)- Questions are based on KSD standards and typical standardized multiple choice questions. Sub Categories include - General Science, Earth Science Physical Science, Biology, Alaska Science and Health
Social Studies - (Multiple Choice) - Questions are based on KSD standards and typical standardized multiple choice questions. Sub Categories include - World History, American History, and Alaska History
Essay - (Topic: Perseverance and Resilience). You can make up a 3 x 5 note card in advance and fill both sides with notes. (Cannot be bigger than 3 x 5). You can bring the note card into the Essay competition. You must write the essay on lined paper during the competition.
Speech - (Topic: Perseverance and Resilience). You must prepare your speech in advance and bring in to the competition. We recommend you write it on note cards, however you can bring in your speech or any paper you want. (Or have it memorized).

Geography Games (Grades 9-12)- Practice any “World “Geography Games
Keyboarding — (Typing.com - Practice typing). You will have 2 attempts to type in a 1 minute test as quickly and accurately as possible.
Basketball — 16 team single elimination bracket.
Volleyball — 16 team single elimination bracket.
Super Quiz — 25 multiple questions for a gameshow type competition for teams. Topics will be posted soon.
Engineering & Design - Your team will build something with materials provided. The strongest or fastest or longest will be the winner. 1st - 16th place will be determined.
