Maximize Your High School Experience
Description
Students attend high schools to enrich their knowledge through various learning experiences and academic subject matters. However, by focusing on specific beliefs/mindset and durable skills throughout their high school years, students can be better prepared for college and beyond. This information session and discussion is designed to identify some of those beliefs/mindset and durable skills and discuss how each person can “practice” and “own” them.
Key topics covered include:.
"The New Work Mindset": This involves adapting to a changing job market with multiple employer and career changes. It emphasizes the importance of durable skills (transferable skills) in addition to technical skills.
Beyond Academics: The presentation highlights the importance of mindset (purpose, curiosity, self-awareness, self-efficacy, self-advocacy) and skills (time management, goal setting, collaboration & teamwork, communication, critical thinking, research skills).
Advice for Students and Parents: It offers guidance on being open-minded, exploring careers, applying everyday life to learning, trusting children, and encouraging involvement.
