Waylan Sleman Abdullah has a Master of Landscape Architecture from Anhalt University of Applied Science, Bernburg (Germany), and a B.Sc. In Architectural Engineering from Koya University, Koya/Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Waylan works as an assistant lecturer in Engineering Decoration – Interior Design Department in Kurdistan Technical Institute, her research interest is in interior Design, Landscape Design, Heritage protection, historical Architecture, culture and context in landscape and architecture.
Waylan also has a good professional background in public architecture and municipal projects/design and Construction, as she worked for the municipalities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, main two cities in Iraqi Kurdistan. She is also a member of Kurdistan Engineering Union.
She worked in with many international teams especially in the heritage protection of Erbil citadel (a UNESCO world heritage site) and attended many international events related to planning, design and heritage protection.
