The purpose of the Mark Twain Award is to provide children of Missouri with a recommended reading list of literature that will enrich their lives.
4th and 5th graders are encouraged to read at least 4 nominated books to be eligible to vote for their favorite.
A nominated list of books that are intended to introduce quality contemporary literature to students. 3rd graders are encouraged to read at least 4 books from the list to be able to vote for their favorite in March.
A nominated list of books for students in grades 1st-3rd to promote the recognition of authors and illustrators. Students are encouraged to read at least 6 of these books to be eligible to vote for their favorite in March.
The Building Block Picture Book Award is designed to encourage reading aloud to children ages birth through Kindergarten. Kindergartners are encouraged to listen to at least 7 of the nominated books to participate in voting for their favorite. Voting will take place between September 1, 2020 - January 15, 2021.
