This weeks message...

Hawthorne Elementary is a K-5 Building. We have a new Principal this year, Ms. Lauren Malone. As of now our Kindergarten class sizes will be between 20-22 students/room. Masks and water bottles will be needed to start the school year! More information will be added here soon to help prepare your children for the first day, so be sure to check back in before September 8th. Welcome to Hawthorne, Bulldogs!

About Mr. Hermon

The 2020-2021 school year will be my 17th in education. I was a 2nd grade teacher for 12 years and am entering my 5th as a Kindergarten teacher. I am also the 8th grade boys basketball coach here in Kearney. I'm married to my wife, Kelli and we have four wonderful kids, Maja (8th), Camille (7th), Anna (4th), and Gabby (4th). We live north of town on 13 acres with our two dogs, Ernie and Dotson. I love spending time outdoors, hiking, hunting, and fishing. I also love watching my kids participate in their many activities.

About Mrs. Bomar:

This is my 19th year teaching Kindergarten and my 16th year at Hawthorne. I am married to Paul and have three daughters. Gracie is a Freshman in High School. Maggie is 7th grade and Averie is in 5th grade. We have two little dogs Prim and Matsi and a big Golden Retriever puppy named Hope. Some of my favorite things are watching my girls play sports, being with my family, La Fuente, and coffee.

Please take the time to watch this short video. It's a cute little story of a baby sandpiper. The story shows a little about how your fear no longer matters when you face it with all the courage you have inside. It reminds us teachers a little about the first days, weeks, and even months of what school can be like for the kids and for us! #becourageous
