Class overview
This course will cover standard 9th grade English curriculum based on the Missouri Learning Standards, including reading (literary and technical), writing (narrative, informative, and argumentative), speaking/listening, and technical elements of English. It will operate parallel to the general ed English class, but with more individualized, intensive instruction and within a smaller group setting.
About me
This will be my 22nd year of teaching. The first three years of my career were in the Excelsior Springs school district, with the rest of them all being here at Kearney. Teaching is the family business. Grandma was a teacher, Mom and Dad were teachers, and all of my siblings either are teachers or were teachers at one time. I even married a teacher, Jennifer, my wife of 13 years. I became a teacher because I saw the impact my Grandma and parents were able to have on the lives of their students and I knew I wanted that for myself. I have 2 children. My daughter, Phoebe is 10, and my son Everett is 7.
