Outreach Consultants

Katie (Massey) Fromholt, M.S., NBCT, comes to KSD Outreach with 13 years of teaching in Jefferson County Public Schools where she taught in self-contained preschool and kindergarten classrooms at the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy. She received her bachelor’s degree in deaf and hard of hearing education with elementary education and her master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Katie also holds a developmental interventionist certificate and works as a Developmental Interventionist/Teacher of the Deaf through the Kentucky First Step Program. She was recognized as the 2018 JCPS Exceptional Child Education teacher of the year. In 2020, Katie certified with her National Board Certification in Exceptional Needs Specialist, Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She is also the mother of a son, Brody, who is a cochlear implant recipient and is diagnosed with Usher Syndrome Type 1b.

Misty Epperson comes to Kentucky School for the Blind Outreach with 15 years of teaching experience. She began teaching in Clark County as a Special Education teacher where she gained experience supporting students with Emotional Behavior Disorders. She transitioned to Pulaski County Schools where she taught as an itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). Misty received her bachelor's degree in Special Education Learning Behavior Disorders (LBD) at the University of Kentucky, Principalship Degree at University of the Cumberlands, Teacher Preparation Program in Visual Impairments and Orientation Mobility (O&M) both from the University of Kentucky. In 2021, Misty also passed the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP) as a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS). Throughout her time as a TVI in Pulaski County Schools she had the privilege to collaborate with the Kentucky School for the Deaf.
