Animal Creations 2017-2018
Students will work collaboratively to create a unique altruistic animal using a plethora of mixed media materials.
- Work in teams to make decisions.
- Construct a 3-D object using materials such as pompoms, pipe cleaners, cardstock, glue, beads, toothpicks, feathers, etc.
- Show examples of:
· How paper sculpture can be used to transform cardstock scraps from 2-D to 3-D.
· How materials can be attached: pipe cleaners wrapped around pompoms, sticks, wires, glued in holes, use different tapes, white, tacky glues, in multip[e ways.
4. Explain in writing (daily journal) and verbally expressing how their creative animal helps society. Students write information on index card with the name of the animal(made up name), student names in the group and their room number. Stand in front of class, take turns sharing special creations.
5. Photos will be taken so each student can paste it into their personal journal.
Create an animal that has never been seen before. It must be altruistic – Think of how it can help others. Be as creative as you can!
Time:
- Ten minutes to plan
- Thirty minutes to gather and put materials together.
- Ten minutes to write on card, clean-up and prep to share.
