Marching Blue Brigade

All students enrolled in Band or Colorguard participate in the marching band. The band supports the varsity football games and performs at halftime. In addition, the band prepares and performs a musical and visual program for marching competitions, including UIL contests, Bands of America competitions, and others. The Blue Brigade has won many championships and has received a "superior" rating at UIL since the marching band began in 2012.

Concert Band

The Concert Ensembles are the foundation of the band organization. During the spring semester, students are assigned to either Honor Band or Symphonic Band based on ability level. The Honor Band and Symphonic Band meet daily and prepare several concerts throughout the concert season. In addition, many of the students participate in individual events, such as the ATSSB All-Region process and the UIL Solo & Ensemble Competition. Several students each year advance to the ATSSB Area auditions, and eventually become part of one of the Texas All-State Bands or Orchestras, which perform during the Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA) Conference in February of each year in San Antonio, Texas. As full ensembles, the concert bands compete at Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sight-Reading Contests as well as other various concert competitions during the spring semester.

Jazz Band

Our Jazz Band features a traditional big band setup: Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, and Drums. Many of our students learn a second instrument in order to participate in Jazz Band. Students audition for the All-Region jazz band in September and we have had many students make the All-Region Jazz Band, advance to Area, and even make the All-State Jazz Band. The Krum Jazz Band plays concerts throughout the year.

Colorguard/Winterguard

The Colorguard is an integral part of our marching show every year. Colorguard students do not need any prior experience in order to participate. They learn how to perform, emote, dance, and spin flags, sabers, and rifles. Auditions happen in the spring. Winterguard is in the spring semester. Students do not need any prior experience in order to participate, however, experience and ability will determine placement in the Winterguard show. Students must be signed up for the class in order to participate.
