The Venture program is a two-credit integrated-curriculum package that grade 9 students who are not already a part of the Integrated Arts program at TAS, may be enrolled in. Venture is an outdoor education initiative that combines a grade 9 Geography course with a grade 9 Healthy Active Living course that introduces students to a variety of outdoor activities. Students will have the same classmates and teacher for a two-period timetable block in the morning or afternoon.
Venture introduces students to learning in, about, and through the natural world in an interdisciplinary setting. Students in the program will often venture into the outdoors to observe and study the natural patterns, processes, interactions, and phenomena of their local bioregion while making connections between their home and other regions.
Venture students will learn and practice a variety of outdoor activities and skills such as cross-country skiing, cycling, orienteering, canoeing, and camping. These activities and skills will provide students with an opportunity to safely venture into, access, or experience natural settings.
An application process will be followed in order to facilitate enrollment into Venture. Students wishing to be part of Venture should be aware that not all applicants will be enrolled, some of the activities will require a fair degree of physical fitness, and the expectations for academic responsibility (i.e. attendance, accountability, participation) are high.
Applications for 2025/26 were due January 24th 2025: http://bit.ly/TASVentureApplication
Please note: The Venture Program is for students who are in-bound to TAS. Students who are out of our boundary OR out of board must submit an out of boundary registration/out of board package and be approved by the Principal before being considered for this program.
