'Arts and Culture' Specialized High School Major
CCSS offers an 'Arts and Culture' Specialized High School Major (SHSM) program, which provides and funds extra opportunities for grade 11 and 12 arts students to provide opprunities for art activities.
Recently, SHSM students have engaged in Stage Fighting, as well as had their AGO trip paid for.
CCSS also has quite a few clubs that visual art students may also be interested in.
We offer a quite a few lunch clubs, including our very own 'Art Club'.
Once a week, during lunch, students meet with their peers and teacher advisors and participate in bonus opportunities to explore art.
CCSS also has their own and 'Yearbook Committee' which meets sporadically throughout the year.
'Yearbook' meets to plan taking and collecting photographs, as well as planning the aesthetics, and layout of the yearbook itself.
Interested Students can find the groups on Edsby or speak to any art staff!
The Arts are a pillar of the CCSS community.
For Visual Arts, we have a one night exhibition in the Winter and Spring as a part of our Arts Nights.
New to this year, we are working on creating a publication, to highlight the artistic abilities of our senior students, and provide professional experience for their CVs.
The Visual Art Department also offers a biannual Art Gallery of Ontario field trip, in which students can explore the famous downtown Toronto gallery around halfway through the semester with their fellow art students.
