SOFTSPACE Group in the Faculty of Engineering, Software Engineering Department has received recognition from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
As a token of appreciation and recognition for their exceptional efforts, the Dean of the Faculty, Assist. Prof. Dr. Galawezh Bakr Bapeer, presented certificates of appreciation to the SOFTSPACE Group staff for the academic year 2025-2026 , It is aligned with the Koya university strategic plan, first piller ( Student Success and emploiability). The ceremony was attended by Dr. Soran Sabah the head of the Software Engineering Department and Mr. Haval Abdulkareem, the coordinator of the Department.
The dedication and hard work shown by the staff in fulfilling their duties are truly commendable, and we wish them continued success in their future.

The 5th International Conference on Architecture and Interior Design has begun in collaboration with Koya University and Tişk International University
On Tuesday, April 29, 2026, the second day of the 5th International Conference on Architecture and Interior Design was held in Erbil, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Mr. Galawezh Bakr Bapir, Head of the Architectural Engineering Department Shuan Ibrahim, beside some teachers and students of the faculty of Engineering at Koya University.

The 5th International Conference on Architecture and Interior Design has begun in collaboration with Koya University and Tişk International University
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the presence of the President of Koya University, Prof. Mohammed Hasib Siddiq and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Galawezh Bakr Bapir and the members of the council of the Faculty of Engineering, some of the teachers and students of the Faculty of Engineering, the 5th International Conference on Architecture and Interior Design in collaboration with Koya University and Tişk International University has started in Erbil.
This year's conference has been held with the participation of researchers and teachers of architectural engineering from Koya University and Tişk International University and foreign researchers from eleven countries. This activity is within the framework of the strategic plan of Koya University, the main pillars (research, innovation, community service and internationalization) attaches great importance to academic and institutional collaboration.

The Petroleum Science Organization Achived His First Activity At the Faculty of Engineering
This event is aligned with the Koya University Strategic Plan, under the First Pillar: (Student success and employability).
On Monday 27th April 2026, in the presence of some teachers and students of Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Petroleum Science Organization for Human Development at Koya University, launched its first activity in the Faculty of Engineering.
At the beginning, Mr. Hama Salim Khadr, representative of Petroleum Science Organization in Koya University, presented a general introduction and the goals and plans of the organization.
Then the organization's program and a seminar entitled "After Graduation: The Real World of Engineers" was presented by Mr. (Mohammed Sirwan) Head of the Organization's Consultants Department, which explained team behavior, starting a job, and the details of real life.

This seminar is designed to help students gain a clearer understanding of professinal life after graduation and prepare for the transition from university to professional life. The seminar addresses the real work environment of engineers, particularly in oil and gas, such as working in the field, corporate demands, professional relationships, and workplace challenges.

The Faculty of Engineering Has Achieved An Important Academic International Seminar
In order to enhance the faculty of Engineering practical skills in the filed of engineering simulation, the AIChE student chapter, organized a special event on Wednesday , 22nd April 2026, focused on the RTSim simulation platform software. This event is aligned with the Koya University Strategic Plan, under the First Pillar: (Student success and employability).
Th advisor of the AIChE chapter at Koya University Ms. Dunya Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of this collaboration for students during the international event. Moreover, the RTSim team participated online and announced an upcoming intensive training course for the faculty of Engineering students to familiar them with the latest industrial engineering modelling technologies and simulation software.

The Faculty of Engineering successfully conducted the panel discussion “Production from Well to Sale & The 9 Life-Saving Rules,” organized by the AIChE Koya University Student Chapter
This event is aligned with the Koya University Strategic Plan, under the First Pillar: (Student success and employability).
At the beginning of our event, it was officially announced that Mrs. Dunya Ibrahim Saleh has been appointed as the new Advisor of the AIChE Koya University Student Chapter. We extend our sincere appreciation for her support and leadership.r.
The panel consisted of two main parts, covering two essential topics. The first part, “The 9 Life-Saving Rules,” was introduced by Mr. Bilal Hiwa Hama, highlighting internationally recognized safety standards in high-risk industrial environments. The second part, “Production from Well to Sale,” was presented by Eng. Soran Jalal provided a comprehensive overview of oil and gas production systems and real operational insights.
The session provided valuable professional perspectives and reflected the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening the connection between academic study and practical field.

TWO STUDENT DEBATE SESSIONS WILL BE HELD AT THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
This event is aligned with the Koya University Strategic Plan, under the First Pillar: (Student success and employability).
On Monday, 16th February 2026, two important student debate sessions will be held under the supervision of several faculty of Engineering professors. The first debate session will be between Software Engineering and Petroleum Engineering Students under the title "The existence of private universities and institutes". The second debate session will be between Mechnical and Manufacturing Engineering department and Civil Engineering Students under the title " Using Ai".

On Thursday 15th January 2026, a scientific delegation from Tishk International University- Erbil visited The faculty of Engineering at Koya University. The Delegation has been welcomed by the dean of faculty of Engineering Assist. Prof. Dr. Galawezh Bakr Bapir, the Head of Architecture Engineering Department Mr. Shwan Ibrahim Mohammed Assaf, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sahar Basil Mahmood and Dr. Wezha Hawez Baiz. Indeed, several important points has been discussed and confirmed according to hold a joint conference titled (International Conference on Architecture and interior design) that prospective to be held in (28-29)th April 2026 at Tishk International University- Erbil. The Faculty of Engineering (FENG) at Koya University organized the 1st National Symposium in Engineering Researches. This national symposium was held at the building of the Faculty of Engineering, where the opening ceremony started at at 10:00 AM on 28th March 2022. Nine researchers from the Faculty of Engineering presented their latest published paper that have the top WoS-IF among the FENG academic staffs' publications in the year 2021. The symposium had two presentation sessions with a coffee-break in between.

DSWE Will Organize an International Workshop (IWSC)
The Department of Software Engineering at Koya University will organise an international workshop entitled "First International Workshop on Smart Computing Applications IWSC" on the 18th of May 2022, which will be held in a hybrid environment. The workshop will invite two national and 9 distingueshed international speakers; Prof. Elizabeth Munch , Prof. Jana Dittmann, Dr. Eduardo Paluzo Hidalgo, Dr. Alessia Paglialonga, Dr.-Ing. Christian Kraetzer, Dr. Tuan T. Nguyen, Dr. Aras Asaad, Dr. Manuel Soriano Trigueros, Dr. Dhurgham Al-Karawi, Dr. Hadi Veisi, Dr. Halgurd Sarhang and Dr. Abdulbasit Talabani. The focus of the workshop will be on theoretical and research-based experimental components of smart modules based on machine learning and system-oriented techniques for various applications such as NLP, Healthcare, Agriculture, Fake detection, and emotion recognition. The Director pf Public Relations at KOU, Dr. Hawkar Bapeer participated the XI International Staff Week (ISW) during the perid 25th-29th April 2022.
