This is a Gale resource, so it will open automatically in the school building, however it will ask you to create an account in order to track your progress. Students are encouraged to use their school email accounts. When using this tool at home, you will need to use our disctrict password which you can get by seeing Ms. Mac or emailing McGaughey@kosd.org.

Gale Presents: Peterson’s Test Prep grants access to full-length, timed practice tests for high school and college entrance exams and can help students boost their ACT or SAT score. Peterson’s Test Prep also offers a wealth of information on graduate programs and career-oriented test prep. Moreover, students can conduct intuitive searches on over 4,000 accredited schools, with thorough results that include location information, college tuition costs, majors, and details on vocational, undergraduate, and graduate programs. Financial aid tools and materials help students prepare, plan, budget, and answer difficult questions about money. 


Equip Job Seekers by Providing Solutions

Gale Presents: Peterson’s Career Prep offers access to clear-cut information on resumés, cover letters, interviewing, and job networking. Personalized career assessments focus on a user's interests, experience, skills, academic history, values, personality, and workplace preferences. Comprehensive career information, including videos, articles, best practices, and downloadable worksheets are included to help catch the eye of a potential employer. Job searching capabilities powered by Indeed.com match listings based on assessment results. Finally, resumé editing software powered by VisualCV provides 5,000 resumé templates and cover letter samples that can help students land an internship or secure that hard-to-find job.

When you are in the high school, these resources should open automatically. At home, you will be required to you to enter your library card number to access them as they are funded by Pennsylvania public libraries. You should have received your Allegheny County Library Card last spring, but you may also find it in your PowerSchool account under additional fields if you have misplaced it. If you did not receive a card or are new to the district, please let Ms. Mac know so she can work with our local libraries to get you a card.
