Anthony Binion, Kore Athletes Founder, graduated from DePaul University, College of Law, in 2023. Since then, he has worked in labor and employment law, negotiating union collective bargaining agreements and overseeing the contract compliance process.
Binion is a veteran athletics' administrator at the collegiate and high school levels, joining the Chicago State University staff in 2019 and coordinating the academic eligibility compliance for the men's and women's basketball teams.
From 2016 to 2019, he was the Director of Intercollegiate and Intramural Athletics at Olive-Harvey College. Under his direction, the women’s basketball team and women’s volleyball teams were reactivated and restored as active sport offerings at the College. He raised funds for the installation of an indoor batting cage for the men's baseball team and oversaw the men's basketball team 2018 NJCAA Region IV championship run; ultimately finishing as the Region runner-up.
Binion spent the 2015-16 school year as the Athletic Director at St. Francis de Sales High School in Chicago. Under his direction, the Pioneers captured regional championships with both the varsity girls’ volleyball and boys’ basketball teams. The varsity baseball team claimed the Chicago Catholic League Red Division title after going undefeated in division play. Academically, 65 percent of the student-athletes posted grade-point averages of 3.00 or better to earn the conference’s All-Academic award.
From 2013-15, Binion was the Assistant Athletic Director of Academic Services at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where he was the primary athletics academic advisor to the men’s and women’s basketball players.
In 2012-13, Binion was the Academic Counselor for the women’s basketball, women’s track and field, women’s cross country and men’s gymnastics teams at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U of I). Binion had additional duties at U of I as well, including overseeing the Identify Illinois Program, which was the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics’ initiative to expose students of color to the opportunities throughout the campus to support the Fighting Illini athletic programs.
Prior to his stint at U of I, Binion was the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2011-12. He was responsible for tracking the academic progress of over 300 student-athletes on the Bulldogs’ 16 athletic teams, coordinating the tutoring program and serving as an advisor on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Binion's first introduction to working in athletics was as an Athletic Marketing representative at Northwestern University from 2008-11. He worked with the marketing staff during football and men's and women's basketball games, assisted with the Get to Know Her and the Kid's Club programs and managed marketing events on the Northwestern University Wildcat party deck.
Binion is a Chicago native and was a stand-out football and track and field athlete at Fenwick High School. A collegiate student-athlete, he attended Truman State University (Mo.) and played football for the Bulldogs. He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from TSU in 2003 and a master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern in 2011.
Binion is a licensed Illinois attorney and a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
