About the Department

The PG and Research Department of Mathematics is one of the most promising departments in Kongunadu Arts and Science College. The B.Sc. Mathematics Degree course was started as an aided course during the academic year 1978-1979 with a sanctioned strength of 40 students and 35 batches have gone out so far. The present strength of the course for the I year is 60. M.Sc. Mathematics Degree course was started as an aided course during the academic year 1982-1983 and 33 batches have successfully gone out so far. The present strength of the course is 40. The research programmes leading to M.Phil and PhD in Mathematics were started as self-supportive programmes during 2000-2001. Our department comes under Fund for Improvement of Science & Technology (FIST) sponsorship scheme of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi.

The vision and mission of the department is to enrich the Mathematical and Analytical skills of the students as Mathematics is considered as the queen of all sciences.

The President of our college Dr. M. Aruchami is very particular about the development of the department from its inception and encourages the staff members to do research. The Secretary of our college Dr. C. A. Vasuki constantly motivating us to conduct more academic and research activities and bestows all the facilities to the department.
