How fast is your cop car? Can I beat you in a race?
First off, no, you can not beat me in a race. Racing a cop car is not only frowned upon, but it's illegal. Secondly, my squad car will go as fast as it was designed to go. That being said, I still need to respond to calls safely and responsibly. If I had a new Corvette squad car and could drive 200+ MPH, it would not be safe or wise for me to drive at that speed while responding to a 911 call. People need our help when they call, and we can't help people if we are the ones needing the help because we caused a car accident.
Also, police cars are built to travel at higher speeds, which is why you might see one travelling fast on the highway. Police cars have the drivetrain and tires that are designed to handle the high heat and friction caused by high-speed driving. Just because an average car "could" drive over 100 MPH doesn't mean it should be driven at that speed.
Keep these things in mind:
1. It is highly illegal and dangerous to drive at that speed on public roads.
2. A tire blowout or driveshaft failure at 100+ MPH could lead to a deadly accident.
3. Your mother's Honda Accord or dad's F-150 is not a high-performance Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut.
Leave the racing to the professionals, travel safely, drive smart, buckle up, and get to your destination safely.

If I get pulled over, do I have to roll my window all the way down?
Well, yes and no. There is nothing in the law that states you have to roll your window all the way down. You really just need to roll it down enough so you can properly communicate with the officer and hand them your driver's license and proof of insurance.
BUT, I would recommend you roll the window down 3/4 of the way or all the way down. The reason for that is safety. If you choose to roll the window down 1 inch and that's it, that does not create a safe environment for you or the officer. The officer might not be able to see your hands enough to ensure safety. At that point, the officer could order you to step out of the vehicle, which is a lawful command you have to abide by. At the end of the day, everyone wants to get home safely, and it makes more sense to start the traffic stop off on a good note, rather than a bad one.

Can I legally have a pig for meat in town?
Well, this is a question I don't get asked every day.... But unfortunately, you cannot own a meat pig or a pet pig within the city of Kasson.
Per Kasson City Ordinance §90.03(s2) - KEEPING OR HARBORING PROHIBITED, "(2) No person shall own, care for, have custody or control of, within the city limits, any non-domestic animal as defined in this chapter." Meaning you cannot own a wolf, rattlesnake, skunk, tiger, or any livestock. However, in subdivision 3, it says: " (3) Exceptions. An exception may be made to this prohibition for the following: non-domestic animals within the City's Agricultural Zoning District as specifically provided within the city's Zoning Ordinance." So if you happen to live in one of those areas, you could.
On a different note, the city of Kasson does allow chickens. You might be able to raise meat chickens, but you would be limited in the number, and you cannot have a rooster. If you truly wanted a meat pig to raise, you could always put together a good proposal, outlining where it would be kept, timeline expected, and any safety precautions you had to keep it contained, then bring that forward to the city council. You could see if they would issue a special permit on that. It might be worth a shot.

Can I drive a snowmobile in town?
Yes and no. While you can operate a snowmobile within the city of Kasson, it is meant to be driven/ridden to get fuel or access trails. That being said, you want to make sure you are being safe while doing so. You can not ride on Mantorville Ave. Make sure you stay off to the side of the road you are on. If you are looking to ride your snowmobile to school, make sure you do not ride on any private property areas. That could result in damage to that person's property. If you do choose to ride to school, I would suggest parking your sled on the North side of the parking lot. Near the trees by the practice soccer fields. Also, make sure you are not leaking fuel or oil of any kind and ride respectfully.

Can I beat you in rock/paper/scissors?
Many have tried, and few have done it. Go ahead and press your luck. Maybe you'll beat me.
KMMS Student (10/8/2025):
Are you at every football game?
Yes and no. I work every KM varsity football home game. I can be found walking around, talking to students, families, and staff. Come up and say hi if you want.
KM Students (09/10/2025):
Are you our SRO again this year?
Why yes, I am. I am the permanent SRO for all KM schools. Hopefully, I will be your SRO for many years to come, as I do really enjoy it.
KMMS Student (05/28/2025):
What is the fastest you have gone before?
I have gone over 500 mph several times before, with my record being around 612 mph. This was in an airplane, of course.
But you are probably wondering what the fastest speed I have driven in my squad car is. When I drive to a caller's location, the speed I drive is as fast as necessary and reasonable. While responding to calls, I need to be safe, cautious, and responsible. I can't just drive 100 mph down Mantorville Ave, that would be unsafe and put other people in danger.

What music do you listen too?
I listen to a lot of genres of music. Growing up, I listened to a lot of country and rock, so most of my variety is based on that. My taste in music changes a lot. I'll be listening to country, then go to metal/rock, then rap, EDM, back to metal/rock, pop/today's hits, then back to country again.
KMMS Student (05/7/2025):
How come we don't see you all the time? What else are you doing?
Being the SRO, my job is to check in and monitor all the schools in town. Both KM and ZED. KMCE, KMES, KMMS, KMHS, ZED ALC, and ZED Futures. I try to be seen at each school, every day, are different times of the day. Just because you haven't seen me doesn't mean I'm not there.

If having tint on your car is illegal, then why do you have tint on your squad car?
Having tint on your car is not illegal. You are allowed to have 50% +/- 3%. That applies to all vehicles. You are not allowed to tint the windshield.
Some exceptions to this are limos, police cars, and if you have a medical need (Have a prescription from a medical physician for tint). Trucks, SUVs, and Vans are a little different. For those, all the glass behind the driver's and passenger's glass can be tinted as dark as you want. Only the front 2 windows must be within the 50% +/- 3% law.
KMHS Student (04/18/2025):
What is the fastest speed I can drive without getting a speeding ticket?
I would have to say that driving the speed limit is the best way to not getting a speeding ticket. It is also the safest speed to drive.
As far as getting a ticket for speeding. Officers of the law have the discretion to write a citation for speed, give a written warning, or give a verbal warning. Whether you get a ticket or not is entirely up to whoever pulled you over. But you won't get pulled over for speeding if you are not speeding.

What do you want everyone to call you?
SRO, Officer, Cop?
I am not picky about that. My position is School Resource Officer, so if you call me SRO Kasper or Officer Kasper, it's pretty much the same thing. Younger students seem to like Officer Zach, and older students often just call me Kasper.
Officer Kasper, Officer Zach, SRO Kasper, or just calling me Kasper, all will get my attention.

Why did the Police Officer smell so bad?...
HE WAS ON DUTY!
That is a good joke. I've actually not heard that one before. Good one.
2 years ago, there was a 6 year old at the fair that told me "All Deputies wear brown because they pooped their pants." That one caught me off guard and I almost spit out my drink from laughing.

Which do you prefer to get donuts from, Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts?
Dunkin is superior. Krispy Kreme donuts are OK, but I think Dunkin is better. Plus, my wife likes the coffee at Dunkin, so she will get me donuts from there. Blueberry Munchkins for the win.
From 3174,
Why did you become a cop?
I love pretty lights and driving fast.
From lots of people,
Do you like donuts?
Yes, of course, I love donuts. Who wouldn't? They are awesome. My favorite donuts are ALL donuts.
From tons of people,
What is your name and badge number?
I know where this is going..... Officer Kasper #3378
From literally everyone,
Where did Officer Jesse Kasel go? What is he going to do now that he isn't a cop? Why did he leave us?
Officer Jesse Kasel has not left to go anywhere and you will see him around Kasson. Officer Kasel is still a Law Enforcement Officer with the Kasson Police Department and has been promoted to Sergeant Kasel. With that promotion, Sgt Kasel now has some new job responsibilities. Instead of being the SRO of the schools and watching over kids, he now babysits all other KPD Officers. But, Sgt Kasel still has the SRO training and will be popping in every once in a while.
