Here's a little bit about Mr. Heins:

• I grew up right here in KoMet Country - I graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 2014.

• I received my BA in English Education and Communication Studies from Luther College in Decorah, IA, and received my Master's Degree in English Education with a writing emphasis from Minnesota State University-Mankato.

• I married my wife, Jess, on August 27 of 2022, and I live in Owatonna with her and our husky, Juneau, and our cat, Bella.

• This is my sixth year of teaching, second in the Kasson-Mantorville School District. I'll be teaching primarily English 7 and English 8, as well as exploratory classes of Creative Writing, Mock Debate, and Fantasy Sports.

• In addition to teaching here at KMMS, I will also be coaching Speech and Debate for the district, as well as leading the Dungeons and Dragons group!

• Outside of school, you can find me:

  • Reading everything and anything

  • Writing (I hope to publish a novel in the near future!)

  • Playing games (board games, Dungeons and Dragons, video games)

  • Being outdoors

  • Cooking/Baking
