Why Math?
Why Math?
When am I EVER going to use this?
A question I hear ALL the time and a question you probably have asked yourself. I don't know why anyone would ask themselves that because math is about the greatest thing out there so everyone should want to learn it. No, I am just kidding, this is a reasonable thing to ask.
Along side of teaching you how to solve for x, how to graph, etc, I can teach you so much more about life in a math classroom. In life you are going to run into problems and hard situations, that is unavoidable. During Math class we will work together so I can teach you how to solve hard problems in life and what to do in hard situations.
In life you are going to have a boss you may not like or get along with, however you have to work with them because it is your job. In school, you may have a teacher you don't like but you still have to go to class. Practicing how to get along with that teacher and respect each other will make situations like that easier in the future.
Just as you may not like your boss, you may have a co-worker you don't like working with. You also may have a classmate you don't like working with either. In class, I can help you learn to work together well even when you don't agree on many things. That way you are set up for success when that situation comes in the future.
During math class, it is likely you will come across a problem that is difficult. It is also likely in life you will run into many situations that are difficult. In class, we can work together so I can teach you the skills that are helpful to work through a problem so when that happens to you in the real world you don't have to stop.
Most people love working in groups, until it is with others they don't enjoy working with. Maybe because you don't have many interest or have different priorities. Whatever it is, sometimes you have to work with people you don't like. That will happen in school sometimes too and practicing working with people who are not your best friend will allow you to work successfully with others as an adult.
So, moral of the story, you are going to use these skills ALL the time!
