Dr. Susan AL Naqshbandi

Susan Al Naqshbandi earned her Computer Science degree from Al-Nahrain University, Iraq, graduating with distinction for her doctoral research in Network Intrusion Detection. After completing her Ph.D., she moved to the Netherlands, where she equalized her diplomas and began her academic career as an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University in 2011. In 2013, she continued her work at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Her research interests include Computer and Cybersecurity, Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data. She served as a lecturer in the Computer Engineering and Computer Science Department at Komar University of Science and Technology for two years.

As of Fall 2024, she has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Computer Engineering Department.






Academic Philosophy

Students need a teacher who inspires them. When students view their teacher as inspirational, it increases their appetite for learning.

A classroom needs to feel like a safe place for both students and teachers. In order for creativity and higher level thinking to be present in the classrooms, a feeling of safety must first be present in the classrooms.
