Annual Hike for Life 2026
The Knights of Columbus core mission pillars March for Life program dubbed "Hike for Life" in Calgary was held last May 9 (Sat) sponsored by Calgary Pro Life Association was not just a 10km walk that started @ the Enmax stage of Prince's Island Park, it is a public witness to our commitment to building a Culture of Life here in Calgary, it also promotes respect for life & raised fund to support vital educational programs especially in the rural communities.
Live band music, hotdogs, pop, water, Tim Hortons donuts & coffee was serve. T-shirts, awards & prizes was given away before & after the walk and during fellowship.
2026 Padre's Nights & State 115th annual convention
The Knights of Columbus Padre's Appreciation Nights is another evening of fraternity, acknowledgement & celebration of and with our clergy held @ Polish Canadian Cultural Center.
State 115th Annual convention is where our council accepted an unexpected award in recognition of achieving over 300% of the council Supreme net membership goal also held @ Polish Canadian Cultural Center.
Knights Assisted Mass 2026
The Knights of Columbus 1st Knights Assisted Mass (KAM) for the year 2026.
Council 8470 knights provided the liturgy leader, reader, deacon, Eucharistic ministers, Ushers, communion supervision, gift family, we also augmented the existing choir with more male (knights) voices.
This event showcase our presence in the church, increased our visibility & promote knights influence to our parishioners.
Silver Rose Celebration
The Knights of Columbus Silver Rose pilgrimage that started in Mexico, then US, then Canada will make a stop @ St Patrick's parish church to remind parishioners & the community through a series of prayer services promoting the dignity of all human life & honoring our Lady of Guadalupe.
Approximately 80 Catholics celebrated with us that Thursday morning.
Basketball Free Throw District Level Awardee
We awarded 3 shooters from Fr. James Whelihan school, 3 shooters from Holy Child School, 2 shooters from St Theresa of Calcutta and 1 shooter with a perfect score of 25 points from St Sebastian school, all are District Level Champions receiving a KofC championship medal, basketball with KofC logo and a basketball patch .
All 9 shooters will be competing at the Provincial / Regional level on Mar 21, 2026 @ Holy Spirit school in Cochrane ... Good Luck !
Basketball Free Throw Championship (council level)
Each contestant, boys and girls from 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 age group will be allowed 15 consecutive free throws. The highest scorer from each age group is declared a Council Level Champion and will receive a Championship certificate and will be elevated to the next level.
At this level, they will shoot 25 consecutive free throws. The results will be submitted to the District coordinator, who will select the highest scorer on each age group and be declared District Level Champion and will received a Championship medal and will be elevated to the next level.
Last year competition our council 8470 was able to send 4 Provincial shooters and won the provincial / regional level status. They are: Eli M, 9 years old, Luella P, 11 years old, Abbey G 13 years old and James P, 14 years old.
Keep Christ in Christmas poster contest.
This Knights of Columbus program will allow youth to engage their creative talent and imagination while understanding the true, spiritual meaning of Christmas.
Their posters includes a slogan reflecting the topic and the original visual image of Christmas.
The council awarded the poster winner to Jaylene Mhaye Abundo, a grade 7 student from Holy Child school. Her works was elevated to the District level and was chosen to represent Calgary to the provincial level competition.

Third of Dec 13 Knights Triple Event.
Fr Vincent led the opening prayer & blessed the abundance of food prepared by us & for us, as this was a potluck Christmas party inclusive to all Knights & their respected family members only. Approximately 71 Knights & their family members attended.
A toast was offered by the Grand Knight highlighting the celebration of council 8470 incredible achievement i.e. new website, 24 new knight, 2 tailgate BBQ & lots of monthly events to look for.
Second of Dec 13 Knights Triple Event.
We held our first Knights Assisted Mass (KAM) of the decade, 2020.
The priest, deacons & liturgy leader are all Knights.
The liturgy lector, first & second readers are also Knights.
The Eucharistic ministers, ushers, communion supervisor & gift family are all Knights.
The choirs was augmented with 7 Knights & family members.
As successful as it was, I will not be surprised if it will be happening again in March, June & Sep of 2026.
First of Dec 13 Knights Triple Event.
We act as Santa's helpers delivering Christmas hampers on behalf of the Society of St Vincent de Paul to selected households in our community.
Each Christmas hampers comprised of Christmas gifts & food hamper, suitable for preparing a traditional Christmas meal. The physical hamper was supplemented with grocery gift card to allow for household preference.
We held 2 Parish Barbecues this summer! Serving over a combined 600 parishioners, they were both fantastic successes. We even got to show off our new grill.
