ABOUT SHIRLEEN
Shirleen is a nesting leatherback who was originally tagged in 2017 in Martin County, Florida. She weighs 900 pounds, is 73 inches long, and was satellite tagged in 2023 and again in 2025 in an effort to determine if the migratory routes of leatherbacks after they leave their nesting grounds are the same from year to year. Shirleen initially transmitted for ~700 days and dove to depths of over 3700 feet.
