The Fruit Science Lab in the Department of Horticultural Science at Kyungpook National University conducts research on fruit cultivation and molecular physiology in response to climate change. Through in-depth analysis of cultivation physiology—encompassing photosynthesis, respiration, and water and nutrient management—we propose optimal strategies to enhance crop productivity and sustainability.
Our team focuses on unraveling the mechanisms of apple flower development under abnormal climate conditions. We also develop predictive models to forecast bloom timing, aiming to mitigate the risks posed by fluctuating weather patterns. By employing omics analysis, we identify core factors related to crucial traits, such as fruit quality, tree architecture, and disease resistance.
Moreover, the lab is actively developing AI-based cultivation systems to further optimize production strategies and plans to integrate advanced machine learning approaches into future GWAS research. By harnessing these innovations, we strive to ensure the sustainability of the fruit industry while contributing to the scientific advancement of modern agriculture.
