Students from grades 9-12 in ENN at Knox County High School are given real-world experience in the field of newspaper and broadcast journalism. Students learn how to think on the run, research the stories they plan to cover, properly conduct an interview, taking photos and video, and are allowed to practice skills necessary for a future in journalism. The students are also given experience with industry-standard journalism tools such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe In Design, Adobe Photoshop, and more.
Here at ENN, we produce and broadcast ENN bi-weekly and write and produce a monthly eight- to 12-page newspaper. Students also create weekly Toilet Times featured in all bathrooms in the middle and high schools. Students are also working on creating broadcast-quality commercials to run with our broadcasts and print-worthy advertisements that will run in the newspaper.
ENN now has a podcast room for recording as an extension of our newsroom. The students plan to bring you episodes filled with fun, deep dives, interviews, debates, etc. Whether exploring new trends, talking about life, sharing personal stories, or making you laugh, ENN promises to keep it real, relatable, and fun.
We look forward to expanding our organization as we add new ideas and experiences for our students.
This Multimedia Journalism Program is taught by Laura Greenley (broadcast journalism) and Dawn Llewellyn (print journalism).
